a poem by Anushka Mankodi

Spiders

A web of half truths

And intermingling fate

Spider-spun strands

Both strong yet delicate

One false move

One secret left untold

The web is slashed

Repercussions ten-fold

But the pity is

They were left unspoken

Hidden in corners

Until the holder was broken

Even when they knew

They did not speak

For patching up

Is “done by the meek”

And silently they wither away

In corners dark and lone

Each believing that

They must wither alone
